THE LYME REGIS ORGAN SCHOOL – WINTER WORKSHOP 2016 – 17-19 FEBRUARY

The Lyme Regis Organ School is running its Winter Workshop on 17th, 18th & 19th February 2016.  This year’s course will concentrate on Playing with Confidence.  The key will be a positive, informal, enjoyable yet challenging atmosphere, working with some of the UK’s finest organists in a range of talks and discussions, demonstrations and group study sessions.  Included is a trip to Honiton, Ottery St Mary and Exeter Cathedral and St Michael’s Mount Dinham (Exeter). 

Course Tutors are Philip Scriven, Peter Parshall, Richard Godfrey, David Bruce-Payne, Ian Curror, Alex Davies and David Davies.

Workshop Cost: £200 per person (£120 for those in full-time education) – includes all course fees, lunch on three days, dinner on the first night, refreshment breaks, and travel on Thursday.   A limited number of full-cost bursaries are available to those of school age.

PARR HALL ORGAN RECITAL WITH JONATHAN KINGSTON – 26 OCTOBER 2015

Parr Hall, Warrington’s historical Cavaille-Coll organ will be brought to life during the Autumn/Winter season when Jonathan Kingston performs at the Parr Hall Organ Recital on Monday, 26 October 2015 at 7.30 pm.

Jonathan Kingston

Jonathan studied the organ with Professor Ian Tracey and Ian Wells of Liverpool’s Anglian Cathedral, home to one of the largest pipe organs in the world.  He was appointed Organ Scholar, and subsequently Sub-Organist to Bradford Cathedral before securing positions as Assistant Director and Director of Music at two leading independent schools.  Jonathan is currently Associate Director of Music at the Ordinariate Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, Piccadilly.  He has broadcasted as soloist live on BBC TV and Radio and has given recitals in many cathedrals and churches in the UK and abroad, also appearing with several orchestras including The Halle, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra and English Symphony Orchestra.

Washburn Benefice Choir, based in the Harrogate district of North Yorkshire, require a Student Organist to act as Accompanist for the following three services:

  • Friday 2nd October 2015 at 7.00 pm – Fewston, North Yorkshire
  • Sunday 4th October 2015 at 9.30 am – Farnley, North Yorkshire
  • Sunday 11th October 2015 at 10.00 am – Leathley, North Yorkshire

The application deadline for 4 years’ free tuition  is 15 December 2015.

IAO REGIONAL ORGAN DAY – BRISTOL – 17 OCTOBER 2015 – 10.00 AM – 5.15 PM

The Incorporated Association of Organists (West of England and SE Wales) invite you to a Regional Organ Day, Bristol, on 17 October 2015, 10.00 am to 5.15 pm.  This is a varied and interesting programme of events, for Church and Chapel organists of all abilities, organ enthusiasts and those with an interest in church music from the West of England and South East Wales regions.  Visitors from outside the region are warmly invited.
