    Hi
I’m currently working towards a diploma in piano and I’d love to take up the organ. I live in Hebden Bridge and can easily get to Halifax. Would a teacher be able to contact me?

I have recently retired and completed a Dip. L.C.M. in pianoforte performance a few years ago. Alongside the piano I have played the organ but not had any formal teaching and although my keyboard skills are good my ability at pedalling needs some tuition. Are you able to recommend anyone in the Teesside area who may be able to help.

  5. Toby

Hi is handforth, east Cheshire too far away? Do we come to you or you come to us for the lessons?

    • d.baker152@btinternet.com

Hi Toby. Not if we use Zoom, which I am doing a lot at the moment. Or I could recommend one of my fellow RCO accredited tutors to you. I will DM you with more details.

    Hello,
I have become an occasional church organist – more by accident than intent – for a church in Bradford and think I really need organ lessons to progress. Being a pianist my biggest challenge is using the pedals and I would love to have some proper instruction.
I live in Halifax and was delighted to discover your organ academy here.
I hope you can help and look forward very much to hearing from you.

Hello Charles – good to hear from you! I will reply to you directly about lessons. Best wishes,

      David

    Greetings,
I am interested in finding an Organ Teacher in West Yorkshire to cover Grades 6-8. Recently moved to Dewsbury. Have experience with both pipe organs and digital instruments. Previously lived in Kent and was able to have lessons with an RCO instructor at his home on a Viscount.
Have been in touch with Leeds Cathedral music school but availability appears to be limited.
    Any recommendations much appreciated.

  8. Andreas Goebel

    Hello,
I’m a non-professional organist in Berlin, Germany and although I have a good practical and theoretical background (I studied musicology 30 years ago) and have been learning to play the organ with a very good teacher for a few years, I’m looking for some kind of organ workshop over a few days or a week for a more intense learning experience. I’ve been looking around in Britain and Germany but it’s very hard to find. Do you know of any such event, or a website where I could look?
    Thanks in advance.
    Andreas

    • Laura Wilson

Hello, Thank you for your message. I would suggest that you review the Royal College of Organists website (https://www.rco.org.uk/) and review their learning/event details. They were obviously doing remote courses/events due to Covid but I believe they now offering a mixed approach so you may find something that might be useful.

I hope that you have some success and find a learning experience to suit your needs.

      Best wishes

  9. Howard

    Dear David,
I live near York. I have some piano skills and have been trying to learn organ on a home practice instrument during lockdown – partly motivated by playing for services and partly an ambition to play the instument.
I’m looking for a teacher, and Halifax isn’t that far!
    Many thanks
    Howard

  10. Karl Greenall

    Dear Dr Baker,
I have come to the conclusion that I would benefit from working with an organ teacher who can help me rid myself of accumulated bad playing habits, work on my technique, and help with the goal-setting process.
I live in Wigan and am prepared to travel!
Your observations and recommendations would be most welcome.

    Karl Greenall

  11. Alison Howlett

    Dear David
I live in Huddersfield and am required to play for church services periodically. I use a keyboard with an organ facility but would like to be able to play our organ and would be interested in having lessons. Please could you advise.
